Alejandro Román highlight in the Spanish scene as one of the most significant composers of his generation. Critics tell about his music as “eclectic, original and very personal”, “with the great influence of jazz, film, contemporary music and pop and rock”, a music “with a sound world full of sensuality and elegance”.
His works includes solo instruments, chamber music, singing, orchestra, electroacoustics and music for film, theater and dance, that have been interpreted all over the world. He has been awarded several prizes for musical creation, among which the National Music Prize "Cultura Viva", received in 2015, stands out for his contribution as a composer, researcher and pedagogue.
He has received commissions from different institutions, highlighting the composition of the work required for the 56th International Piano Competition "Premio Jaén". In 2016 the International Piano Competition "Composers of Spain" of Las Rozas dedicated to him its XVII Edition, where pianists from around the world performed their works.
Román is professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and the University Complutense de Madrid, author of several books. His music has been published in several albums in labels such Naxos, Arlu, Tañidos, Karonte, Rosetta, etc.
