Thomas Russell Jenkinson aka Squarepusher, born January 17, 1975 in Chelmsford, Essex, has been involved in electronic music since 1995. A virtuoso musician on bass and drums, he started out in amateur metal bands before establishing himself as an expert in electronic programming. His unrivalled ability to blend jazz, drum'n'bass and techno results in intense music where his sonic explorations flourish in violence and chaos. His debut album, Feed Me Weird Things , released in 1996, reached number ten in the UK dance charts. The English label Warp Records, home of Aphex Twin and Autechre, then welcomed this demanding and unpredictable artist for Hard Normal Daddy in 1997. In 2001, he reached the top 100 best-selling albums in the UK for the first time with Go Plastic, but it was with Ultravisitor in 2004 that he made his international breakthrough, appearing at number 9 on Billboard's US Dance chart. The artist continued his sonic explorations on Hello Everything in 2006 and Just a Souvenir in 2008. In 2012, the album Ufabulum received a lukewarm reception from the Anglo-Saxon trade press, but Damogen Furies, in 2015, reached number eight on Billboard's US Dance chart. In 2019, he teams up with James McVinnie to develop the All Night Chroma record in 2019 under the name Tom Jenkinson. After Be Up a Hello, which reached 77th place in the UK, Squarepusher released Dostrotime in 2024, which climbed to 56th place, his best performance to date. A prolific musician, Squarepusher also recorded several EPs between each album, some of which charted in the UK. The second of these, Stereotype, released confidentially in 1994, reappeared under the Warp banner in 2025. In 2026, he tackled a new style blending electronics, jazz and contemporary chamber music in Kammerkonzert.
