Formed in Birmingham in 2004, British band The Twang consisted of singers Phil Etheridge and Martin Saunders, guitarist Stu Hartland, bassist Jon Watkin and drummer Matthew Clinton. Called Neon Twang when they formed, the quintet's post-britpop sound, with a return to guitars, was reflected on their debut album Love It When I Feel Like This (2007), which reached number three in the UK album charts. Acclaimed for their live performances, the band, signed to independent label B-Unique, enlisted the help of producer Youth (Martin Glover) for Jewellery Quarter (2009), which reached No. 20. In 2011 follows the limited-edition EP Guapa, before the 2012 release of third album 10:20 (#52), recorded for the band's new label Jump the Cut Records. In 2014, Neontwang refers to the band's original name, with the drummer position changing frequently. After an anniversary tour of the debut album and the release of two compilations, Either Way: It's the Best of the Twang and the B-sides and rare tracks collection Subscription in 2017, The Twang set to work on their original fifth album If Confronted Just Go Mad (2019), featuring a track with Steve Camden aka Polarbear. The Amsterdam EP, released in 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic, was followed four years later by a new version of the second album entitled Jewellery Quarter 24k.
