Vile, a death metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, California, was formed in the mid-1990s by guitarist Colin E. Davis with vocalist Juan Urteaga joining early in the group’s history. The band released early demos including “Vile-ation” in the late 1990s. Their debut LP, Stench of the Deceased, was released in 2000 through independent metal labels. Vile gained attention within the underground death metal scene through their intense sound and live performances. In 2002, they released Depopulate through Unique Leader Records, receiving coverage in metal press for its technical and aggressive style. The band performed live with other extreme metal acts. After a quieter period later in the decade, Vile returned with their fourth LP, Metamorphosis, released in 2011.
