Anthemic DJ & Producer James McGoldrick has been euphorically fusing hard dance, hard trance and hardstyle under the moniker of Generator in both high value productions and powerhouse DJ sets for well over ten years now.
Often engaging his passion for uplifting, big vocal anthem styles, Generator’s repertoire includes a series of popular underground dance singles, all explosive in equal measure.
These include his debut track entitled ‘Diesel’ on Implosion Digital and his sophomore effort, ‘Chains’, which would bring him to the attention of hard electrik hero and hard house legend Scott Attrill and BK respectively, who signed the third in Generator's armoury 'Cylinders' to the infamously popular labels Riot! Recordings and Traffic Records.
This started a new era of great achievement for Generator, leading to the releases of ‘'Sexually Infected' (on Traffic), the extremely catchy 'Little Spys' (also on Traffic), the massively memorable 'Somethings C*m Inside Me' (Traffic), the chart topping 'Flaccid' and 'Sticky Fingers' (both on Riot!), the Agami Mosh penned 'Mad Breathing' (Riot!), the super smash hit 'Saved My Life' (Riot!) and the much acclaimed 'Ear Bashing' (Riot!), many of which received acclaim from Mixmag, DJ Mag, BBC Radio 1 and in some cases all three.
Furthermore, Generator then produced and was charged with the undertaking of several remixes for a number of producers that included a remix of 'Bass Medication' for Shaun Livener on Universal Nation Recordings, an popular remix of Luca Antolini's 'Powerful Reloaded' for United Styles and an epic remix of Scott Attrill's seminal anthem 'Girls Love Techno' which saw Generator turning in a headline set worthy version of the best selling dance anthem.
He’s no stranger to a compilation album either, with his first ever mix for a retail distributed two mix album, 'Live For The Weekend’ Volume 3' debuting in 2013, which he shared with hard dance rising star Helen G and received a well documented release on Riot!
Generator has also previously had tracks and remixes signed to BK’s ‘From Russia With Love’ (BK Live In Russia) album, Scott Attrill’s ‘This Is Hard Electrik’ and ‘Live In Sydney’ albums, ‘Hard Dance Euphoria’, Traffic’s ‘100’ series, ‘Hard Underground Sound’ 002, ‘Ibiza Hard EDM Selection’, ‘I Love Traffic’ Volume 3, Noize’s ‘Electrik Hard Dance’ Volumes 1 & 2, Riot’s ‘Scott Attrill Selects’, ‘I Love Riot!’ Volume 3, Hard Dance Coalition’s ‘Global Hard Dance’ Volume 3 and many, many more.
Of course, it goes without saying that a solid production slate in turn presented Generator with the opportunity to perform a continuing string of DJ dates UK wide which included appearing alongside some of the international hard dance elite at events such as Implosion, Riot!, Noize, Bionic, Resonate, Forbidden, Contact, Storm and Audio Surgery - the latter being the party, label and production brainchild of rave rockstars the Organ Donors, who Generator continues to work with to this very day.
And so in 2023, after a brief hiatus, the bombastic beat purveyor known as Generator has returned with a string of fresh new tracks lined up for the modern club and festival landscape. This includes hot new single ‘The Puzzle’, an electrifying Summer smasher, that sees him reunited with his old friend Matt OD (Organ Donors), further confirming ‘twas ever thus - that the two are a dynamite combination.
With an eagerly awaited new artist album to follow and a freshly established DJ diary hotting up, Generator is back with a vengeance and a decade later, his story continues…
