María de la Luz Tena Álvarez, known professionally as Lucero Tena, and born on September 16, 1937, in Durango, Mexico, is a flamenco dancer and castañuelas player based in Spain. Tena began her dance training at the age of four. Her breakthrough came when she joined Carmen Amaya's company after replacing Leonor Amaya due to a health issue. Tena is known for her skill with the castañuelas, particularly in classical works. She collaborated with notable conductors such as Mstislav Rostropóvich and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. Tena received numerous awards, including the Medalla de Oro del Círculo de Bellas Artes in 1965 and the Lazo de Dama de la Orden de Isabel la Católica in 1968.
