so much new music dropping in '25!
Bulgarian Cartrader is the genre-blurring music project of Daniel Stoyanov — a Sofia-born, South Germany-raised artist with a voice as distinctive as his backstory. From humble beginnings playing wedding gigs, Stoyanov carved out a name for himself in the music industry as a sought-after studio vocalist. His talents took him all the way to the big leagues — co-writing and performing as a background singer for stadium-filling German band SEEED, and collaborating with the likes of Solomun, Casper, Marteria and more.
The idea for Bulgarian Cartrader came in an unexpected moment of inspiration — while delivering a car for a friend. The name stuck, and the project became a vessel for Stoyanov’s unique musical vision. After parting ways with his major-label band Malky, he disappeared into the studio, spending countless solitary days and nights writing, performing, and producing what would become his 2021 debut album, Motor Songs.
The release sparked a breakout year: Bulgarian Cartrader quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting indie newcomers. With festival stages and sold-out shows from Sofia to Berlin, Paris to New York and LA, he captivated audiences with his quirky charisma and irresistible sound. He was awarded the Music Moves Europe (MME) Award and championed by tastemakers like Matt Wilkinson, Kevin Cole (KEXP), and Chris Douridas (KCRW). Praise poured in from Musikexpress, Libération, and Indie Shuffle, and his tracks racked up over 15 million streams alongside numerous high-profile syncs.
After a quiet year of recalibration, Bulgarian Cartrader is back — independent and recharged. His new single, released May 16th via his freshly launched Uncomfortable Chair Records, marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for one of indie’s most intriguing voices .
