Ewan Samms defies categorisation. Floating across Jazz-influenced Indie-Folk, Samms creates with whatever tools are to hand. Their last EP was recorded using just their laptop microphone and a toy guitar, placing the same importance on songwriting as core influences like Adrianne Lenker, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. With complete control over the writing, production and mixing of their projects, Ewan’s voice shines through all aspects of their music, one that is queer, Gen-Z and deeply ambitious. Samms upgrades to a dreamy soundworld he calls ‘Mid-Fi’ on their forthcoming EP Magnolia, a lush mess of longing, out May 3rd.
