Tarune is the meditative-folk solo project of Giullian Yao Gioiello. Born and raised in downtown NYC with a mixed-asian background, Tarune grew up with a diverse range of influences, singing in church, meditations, performing at bars in the village, and studying Spanish classical guitar as a boy. Enamored with singer-songwriters like James Blake, Frank Ocean and Bon Iver, Tarune writes, performs and produces his music on his own from his bedroom studio, embracing a striking sense of vulnerability and cinematic ambience as his calling card.
His soothing singles Goodnight Baby and Met a Girl have amassed over 12 million streams on Spotify, and his new album let him cry debuts in the new year, his first larger body of work, focusing on the link between childhood trauma and the way we learn to love each other. Along with that, he co-wrote and produced the upcoming EP Mars with Justice Smith, you can see him on the big screen as a film actor in the A24 film Sharper or as Sandra Oh's tragic son in Catfight. He is also co-writing a book on the field of Primal Therapy.
