Jo Carlos, a Congolese musician and singer based in Goma, was born Atibu Jonathan in Kinshasa.
He developed a passion for music at a young age. Jo Carlos moved to Goma and signed with the Belazik label in 2020. His first release with the label was the song "Mes Rêves" (My Dreams), featuring Thasi Ponda, JP Song, and Lievin Marandura, all artists from the label.
The song gained him recognition among Goma audiences. In 2023, Jo Carlos signed with Amon Access Music.
The label introduced him to new styles like amapiano, afro house, and afrobeats. After releasing his first single with the label, he began to rank well in the iTunes sales ranking in South Africa's Amapiano category. His music also gained popularity in other African territories.
