Volkan Melendiz, known professionally as Melendiz, was born on June 14, 1982, in Berlin, Germany. As a child of Turkish immigrants, he grew up in the Neukölln district and began composing his own songs at the age of ten. After completing his high school education, Melendiz pursued a degree in mathematics at the Technical University of Berlin. Melendiz's music career took off with the release of his English-language song "Fuck You All" in 2004, which reached number 19 and 14 in Germany and Austria, respectively. The track, based on the melody of Georges Bizet's Habanera, was initially misinterpreted as being from an American artist associated with Jay-Z and P. Diddy. Following this success, Melendiz released two more English-language singles, although they did not achieve the same level of commercial success. In 2006, he formed the duo Bassturk with Tamer Uygunsözlü, releasing the hit "Yana Yana", a blend of Turkish pop, rap, and R&B. The song appeared on various hit samplers and was featured in several German television and radio shows. Bassturk also performed as an opening act for Turkish stars Gülşen and Mustafa Sandal and at the Türkischer Tag in Berlin 2006. Melendiz's Maxi-CD Fuck You All was released on January 3, 2014.
