WeeLye is a soul, pop, jazz and African singer songwriter who drawing inspiration from the rhythms of her childhood.
Born into a family of musicians in Kinshasa (DRC), WeeLye took a liking to music very early, alongside her singer aunt in the famous Congolese rumba group "OK Jazz" and her guitarist and bassist uncle of the famous group Zaïko Langa Langa.
But it will take him many years before he decides to make his voice heard. More at ease withdrawn from the spotlight, it is between choirs and singing lessons that she flourishes from the age of 18. It is only 10 years later that she will rise to the front of the stage, pushed by her desire to follow her own path.
WeeLye then travels to New York, meets the Brooklyn Funk Essentials there, and embarks on the very first solo recordings. Between Paris and New York she takes the microphone in the first part of Erykah Badu or FéFé and has the chance to share the stage with artists such as Keziah Jones, Faada Freddy, Camille BazBaz...
Today author, composer and performer, she does not hesitate to draw on her experience and her interbreeding to offer us music as strong as it is nuanced, at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, between French and Lingala.
