Kissogram was founded in Berlin in 1999 by Jonas Poppe and Sebastian Dassé, both of whom also played in The Sitcom Warriors and Davos; the band’s lineup later included drummer Joe Dilworth, known for work with Add N to (X), Stereolab, Faith Healers and Cat Power. The group first gained attention through live performances, and a demo of "If I Had Known This Before" reached the label Blaou, prompting a remix by DJ Woody that became a club hit in 2001 and entered the German singles chart at number 60 in January 2002. Kissogram’s debut album, The Secret Life of Captain Ferber, was released in 2004 on Louisville Records, followed by the EP My Friend Is A Seahorse in 2007 and the album Nothing, Sir! the same year. In 2009 the band shifted toward alternative rock with RUBBER&MEAT, featuring tracks such as "The Deserter", "Rubber & Meat", "Messiah" and "Prominent Man", and incorporated Joe Dilworth as a full member. The album saw tours across Europe, supporting acts like Franz Ferdinand and Underworld, and appearances at the Shanghai Expo and São Paulo Biennale. Kissogram disbanded in 2011, leaving a catalog that reflects a transition from electronic dance to electro‑rock and alternative styles.
