Bunking deep in the hulls of the world's largest cruise ships Tommy Green Jr twists tales into tunes, passing time between live-looped music and comedy shows that make him a perennial favourite among Cruisers aboard the Anthem, Oasis, and Allure Of The Seas over the last decade.
Sure, touring the world playing guitar and singing for thousands of new fans with the beauty of an ocean sunset on the horizon seems a glamourous life, but being a career cruise ship performer is not always smooth sailing. When Covid-19 outbreaks began to claim ship after ship, the industry collectively shut down and by June of 2020, those with entertainment careers built on the ocean were left utterly rudderless.
Tommy Green Jr didn't stop making music though. Building on the success of his 2015 self-titled debut album (nominated for “Pop Album Of The Year” and “Best New Artist Recording” at Nova Scotia Music Week) and it's Cruising-inspired stand-out "Sand In My Sheets," Tommy recruited members of hometown Halifax, Nova Scotia's talent-soaked live music scene to write and record his newly scribed songs with local producer Alex Meade. While loop pedals and a unique vocal timbre are his one-man-band ticket to a life at sea, studio recording offers a bigger canvas with brighter and more diverse colours to further expand the expression of these melodic manifestations.
Beginning in July 2021 with the Summer-set storyline of "So Long," these crafted works will cascade like waterfalls over the next four seasons. Supplying the soundtrack of a return to normalcy for many.
If you do get a chance to catch him in action, don't sleep! Tommy's shows are a whirlwind of sing-alongs, hilarious stories, and audience interaction. With a smooth but rugged voice, seasoned banter, and a delighted crowd conducted by his wholesome charm, Tommy Green Jr can make you a life-long fan before the end of the first set.
