Biography

Born Antonio José Sánchez Mazuecos on 2 January 1995 in Palma del Rio, Córdoba, the Spanish singer known as Antonio José fixed his sights on music from an early age and, encouraged by his mother, began pursuing his dream. In 2005, he performed the song "Te traigo flores" ("I bring you flowers") at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where he finished second place. The song formed the titular inspiration for his debut album, which he released that same year and on which he paid homage to the flamenco and Latin rhythms of his homeland. Released four years later, his second album Todo vuelve a empezar (Everything starts again) came from a less traditional place, more shaped by his newfound teenage appetite for contemporary pop and rock than folk music. In 2015, he appeared on television again, this time winning the third season of Spanish reality show La Voz, beating off the other contestants to scoop a one-time record deal with Universal Music Group. He released an album for Universal, El viaje (The journey), the following month and A un milímetro de ti (One millimeter away from you) landed two years later. In 2019, he reached new heights of success with Antídoto (Antidote), achieving one of the best-selling albums in Spain, and rallied a number of guest contributors for his 2021 album Fénix, including Morat ("Lo Que Hará Mi Boca") and Alejandro Fernández ("Tal Vez"). In 2022, he dropped a new collaborative single with Miguel Poveda, "El Plan."
