En concert à La Scala Paris le dimanche 16 avril à 17H !
Nominated Classical Revelation by ADAMI and then laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation in 2021, the Toulousian pianist Vincent Mussat is one of the rising stars of French piano.
After receiving his prize at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris with the distinction of the jury in the class of Denis Pascal, he perfected his skills with the pianist Avo Kouyoumdjian at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna.
It was during these years of training that Vincent developed a curiosity for 20th century French music, an inexhaustible source of sound colours, which occupies a central place in his repertoire. He thus took part in the tribute concert for the centenary of Henri Dutilleux's birth in 2016 and performed several contemporary pieces composed for the occasion by Benoît Menut and Jules Matton.
His fascination for 20th century music is enriched by a historical awareness of the repertoire through residencies at the Ravel Academy and the Royaumont Foundation, of which he is a laureate. Through contact with fortepianos and romantic pianos, he cultivates his affection for the music of Chopin, which he frequently plays in concert.
In the concerto field, Vincent has made stimulating collaborations with the Orchestre de chambre Nouvelle Europe in Mozart's 14th concerto, the Ensemble Appassionato and the Orchestre de Perpignan-Catalogne in Chopin's 2nd concerto, the COGE Orchestra in Ravel's Concerto in G...
Vincent has become a valued chamber musician for the sophistication and depth of his playing, and plays regularly with clarinettist Joë Christophe, cellist Jérémy Garbarg, and violist Paul Zientara. They appear together on France Musique, medici.tv, in the programme Fauteuils d'Orchestre on France 3...
He is regularly invited as a soloist and chamber musician in France and abroad in festivals such as Toulouse d'Été, the Ohrid Summer Festival in Macedonia, the Festival Radio France Montpellier, Muse et Piano at the Louvre Lens, la Roque d'Anthéron, Piano en Saintonge, les Musicales de Bagatelle...
His first recording in duo with Joë Christophe, exploring the French and English repertoire, was released in 2021 by the German label Genuin Classics. It has been praised by music critics, including being chosen as the 'disc of the day' in the France Musique programme En pistes, and nominated for an Opus Klassik Award.
Two more recordings will be released in 2023. A duo recording with bassoonist Marie Boichard will feature rare pieces by French composers, and a first solo recording on the Scala Music label will be devoted to the mysterious, aquatic impulses of the work of Ravel and Dutilleux.
