Metttani is the founder of the Arabstazy collective and Shouka label.
Musically trained from a young age, he infuses his approach to electronic music with the essence of acoustic sounds and live performances. His musical repertoire spans diverse influences, incorporating elements from 90s Big Beat and Death Metal, 00s Breakcore and IDM. His work is furthermore enriched by a profound appreciation for non-tempered traditional musics and animist rituals, adding depth to both his compositions and live shows.
In 2019, he unveiled his inaugural album, "Divīne", accompanied by an array of remixes and collaborative music videos directed by Tunisian filmmakers Houssem Guebsi and Ahmed Ayed. In 2023, he releases his sophomore album "Tawātem", an intimate tribute to the fading Tunisian Stambeli tradition, which recording and preservation of Stambeli was the incentive for founding the label Shouka. Tawātem breaks free from conventions, drawing an abstract depiction of Stambeli's possession rituals.
Metttani's music carries the subtle incentive to uncover life's essence in its simplest forms. Here's the kicker: One's totems don't have to be mighty or flamboyant: Whether from this reality or another, every little being can be a powerful guide.
