The Outsiders were an American rock'n'band from Cleveland, Ohio, formed in 1965. The group were led by guitarist Tom King and initially consisted of members who had previously been part of another local band, the Starfires. Their breakthrough came with the release of "Time Won't Let Me" in early 1966, which peaked at Number 5 on the US charts in April. This success led to their signing with Capitol Records and the subsequent release of their debut album Time Won't Let Me. The band's sound was characterised by a blend of rock'n'roll, garage rock, and blue-eyed soul, often ornamented by horns and strings. Following the hit single "Time Won't Let Me", they released several other Top 40 hits in 1966, including "Girl In Love" and "Respectable". The Outsiders toured extensively throughout 1966 and 1967, performing with acts such as Paul Revere and the Raiders, Chad and Jeremy, and Gene Pitney. Their line-up underwent several changes over the years, with Tom King and vocalist Sonny Geraci still forming the core of the band. Despite their early success, The Outsiders disbanded in 1968. Notable posthumous releases include Best of the Outsiders, released by Rhino Records in 1985.
