WHY is an Alt Rock band from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Brian Cook (vocals), Jeremy Dell (lead guitar), Dave Bergmuller (drums). Releasing their 1st album “The Naked Soul” in the mid 90’s and followed up with “The Rise And Fall Of The Question Mark” in 2001. WHY recorded "THE LAZARUS EFFECT". Copies of the album were given out before U2 concerts in Ottawa and Montreal and were made available at Make Poverty History. A portion of the proceeds from the album went OXFAM.
2007 WHY released the album “RED” The single (and title track) "RED" sat at #1 on the KICK FM “Winnipeg Top 40” for 4 weeks in a row, and was named "Song of the Year". Second single, "The Surface" hit charts, hitting #1 on KICK FM and #5 on THE Q FM in Victoria, BC.
2010 an early demo of "PRISONER of HOPE" is released supporting UNICEF's work in Haiti. 100% of WHY’s profits from the single go directly to UNICEF.
WHY have played festivals, have been opening act for recording artists: DANKO JONES, ILL SCARLETT, EDGAR WINTER and UNCLE KRACKER... WHY recently voted “Best Rock Band In Canada” by INTEL CANADA star search.
WHY where invited by Bono's organization ONE, to film a performance of a iconic Protest Song to be part of Bono's brainchild Agit8 for the G8 to draw attention to extreme poverty. WHY covered The Stones "Gimme Shelter" and invited beloved Winnipeg R&B singer FLO to join the rooftop performance. WHY's performance is featured on ONE.org international site. WHY were the only Canadian rock band asked to participate. Then the single “Can’t Stand Your Kids” was released with a title and lyrics that caused some confusion until the band explained it was a “...open letter to God”.

WHY released a newly recorded song “Calloused Heart” Jan 5th 2021. The song was recorded just before a lockdown in Manitoba in Nov 2020.
