Writing original deep Ambient Indie Folk/ Alternative Rock and bringing it to live by epic choirs and instruments
"Timbreroots, [...] one of the most promising local bands of the present day.
With their polyphonic vocals and the assemblage of a multitude of different
influences, they build a bridge between yesterday and today.
today." - Backstage - South Tyrol 1
Timbreroots, the promising indie folk band from South Tyrol, is ready to conquer the
music scene. With their unique "Timbresound" they fuse ambient indie folk,
alternative rock and pop rock from the 60s to the 90s into an rousing experience that fans of Mumford & Sons, Amistat, John Butler, The Lumineers and Coldplay in equal measure.
Epic, up to five-part vocals, skilfully accompanied by guitars, banjo, piano, synths, percussion and the mighty marimba, lend Timbreroots' profound lyrics a lively and touching element.
The extraordinary sound is also characterised by the unique voice of lead singer Benedikt Sanoll. His vocal range, which is similar to that of of Michael Jackson, he creates various moving timbres.
"I have rarely experienced such a musical singer live who also has such excellent vocal control." - Christian Wegscheider (lecturer at the University Mozarteum
Salzburg and former pianist for greats such as Michael Bublé and Udo Jürgens )
The band, consisting of bandleader and songwriter Benedikt Sanoll (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Philipp Sanoll (drums & percussion), Thomas Vicenzi (electric bass), Sebastian Willeit (banjo & e-guitar) and Simon Oberrauch (piano & synths), has already made a name for itself with its debut album "Numen's Dreams". Songs such as "Let's Give Them A Chance" and "We Will Fly Again" have already won the hearts of some fans. In 2024 the release of further singles and an EP is
planned. The South Tyroleans have already played on well-known stages such as “Rock im Ring”, shared the spotlight with bands like Mainfelt and performed at events such as the closing ceremony of the "FISU World University Championship 2022". The band also achieved considerable success with second place in the Italian music competition "Music for the next Generation". Timbreroots' versatile musicality is reflected in their influences from Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, John Butler, Bon Iver, The Lumineers, Ben Howard, Hollow Coves, Jacob Collier and contemporary composers such as Eric Whitacre. Each band member has studied music and brings individual influences from classical classical music to jazz to the band.
"It's like playing from a CD, just even more spectacular!" This is how one spectator described the interactive live performance by Timbreroots after one of their concerts. This quality is also at the heart of the band: Timbreroots attaches great importance to authentic and captivating live
performances. The band creates a unique atmosphere that captivates the audience. Through their intimate interaction with the audience, their charming humour, their charming humour and down-to-earth presence, they create the magical "Timbrevibe", which enables everyone to feel welcome and secure in a warm community to feel welcome and secure, regardless of background or origin. "Every human being is a single tone of the most diverse timbres and roots. When these tones come together in a harmonious symphony, you find yourself on one benevolent wavelength” - Benedikt Sanoll
Benedikt Sanoll, also known as Bene, is the creative head, singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist of the band. He writes the lyrics and the basis of most Timbreroots-songs, which are then developed into complete pieces of music by the other band members. When Bene steps onto the stage, it becomes a place of dreams, wishes and emotions for him. Here he utilises the power of Timbreroots' spherical music to to give his profound lyrics even more expression and to enter the hearts of the listeners. "Despite all the turbulence in the world, I want to give people the opportunity to forget their worries and fears for a moment and enjoy the present moment. At the same time, it is important to me to deal with ethical and moral issues that are particularly close to my heart and that can potentially help to raise awareness for the well-being of all living beings and our environment. These topics are always related to appreciation, charity, joy of life and passion, which I try to convey through the corresponding emotions in my music. I am neither a politician nor a scientist, but simply a thoughtful and self-reflective person who endeavours to convey good values without placing myself above other opinions. At the same time, I don't want to judge anyone for their actions, as I am not in a position to understand the background of others or judge how I would have acted in the same circumstances. I firmly believe that love and charity are the only forces that could overcome the evil of this world. After all, we were all once innocent children who just wanted to be loved, even those people who have only brought bad things to the world. Of course, I also make many mistakes. I think it's important to try to recognise them, admit them, reflect on them and then consciously distance yourself from them. (Bene in one of his first
interviews) Bene's dream of forming a band and connecting people through music began in his childhood. Together with his brother Philipp, long-time friend Thomas Vicenzi and fellow students Sebastian Willeit and Simon Oberrauch, he realised this dream. The origins of the band The Sanoll brothers ventured into their first musical experiments with their band "Oxchillers" back in 2014. After a few line-ups and name changes, the "Oxchillers" evolved into the "Lowlanders". However, it was only during Benedikt's studies at the Mozarteum that the band took its final shape. The chemistry between the members was palpable - Sebastian, the guitarist, quickly took over the banjo, while Simon became the band's pianist. The musicians quickly set up an old junk room at Benedikt and Philipp's home as a rehearsal room. This became a creative oasis in the middle of the South Tyrolean vineyards, where ideas were born and sounds were formed. The first rehearsal in summer 2019 marked the official founding day of Timbreroots.
