Originally from Washington DC, AYO ^ (pronounced I-YO) is a singer-songwriter and producer based in Maryland . Born to Nigerian parents, AYO ^ grew up listening to a multitude of genres including afrobeats, soul, r&b, hip hop and many more. This led to his increased interest in music creation and culminated in the release of his first single entitled "No More" at the age of 21. Before making the transition to an artist, AYO ^ was a self-taught producer who worked behind the scenes with local artists which in turn helped him make a name for himself in the DC area. Since his first release in 2017, AYO ^ has gone on to drop an array of hits including fan-favorite 'Freaky Gyal' in 2020 which boasts close to half a million streams on Spotify and 'Star' which was released in 2019. AYO ^ attributes his dynamic versatility and songwriting to his multi-cultural upbringing and hopes to continue bringing this unique touch for years to come.
