Gisela Mabel is a Luso-Angolan pianist, composer and producer, born in the Algarve and based in Lisbon. Her music blends classical, jazz and contemporary influences with African and Brazilian cultural rhythms, creating a rich and vibrant sound that combines emotional depth with intense rhythmic vitality.
Gisela began her journey with classical piano at the Olhão Music Conservatory. When she moved to Lisbon to study jazz, she also connected deeply with Brazilian music, finding much of her inspiration in its rhythms and harmonies. At the same time, African music became a way for her to reconnect with her cultural roots, and in that search for origin, she found an influence that now shapes her unique sound.
In 2024, Gisela made her debut as an independent artist at Ageas Cool Jazz, where she presented her first EP, “Álbum de Retratos”. Since then, she has been steadily building her presence in the Portuguese music scene.
In 2025, Mabel became the first Portuguese artist to be featured in the official Piano Day compilation, founded by Nils Frahm, which has previously included artists like Yann Tiersen and Ólafur Arnalds.
Her music is marked by the contrast between delicate melodies and dense harmonies, creating a deeply cinematic and sensory atmosphere. The result is an expressive style that invites the listener into a moment of introspection and intimacy, offering an immersive and emotive experience.
