Going by the name Pusha T, Terrence LaVarr Thornton is an American rap artist who has had several hit singles with other hip-hop artists and released albums that reached the charts in America and the UK. Born on May 13, 1977, in the Bronx, he partnered with his brother Gene Thornton in 1992 and they had hits with the names Clipse and the Re-Up Gang. He featured on Kanye West's single "Runaway," which reached Number 12 in 2010 and appeared with West, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Pharrell Williams, and Casino on other singles. He released his first solo album Fear of God II: Let Us Pray in 2011 and it went to Number 10 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. Also that year, he featured on Pixie Lott's "What Do You Take Me For?," which reached Number 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

The Grammy Award-nominated rap single "Mercy" (2012), with Kanye West, Big Sean, and 2 Chainz topped Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. His album My Name Is My Name (2013) reached Number 2 on the Hip-Hop Chart and Number 4 on the Billboard 200 and he featured with Pharrell Williams and Casino on Future's "Move That Doh" (2014), which reached Number 11 on the Hip-Hop Songs Chart. His 2016 album King Push: Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude (2016) peaked at Number 3 on the Hip-Hop Chart and Number 20 on the Billboard 200 and he featured with Mavis Staples on the Gorillaz single "Let Me Out" (2017), which went to Number 7 on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs Chart and with Stormzy on Linkin Park's "Good Goodbye" (2017), which peaked at Number 15.

Kanye West produced his 2018 album Daytona which topped the Billboard 200, went to Number 2 on the Hip-Hop Chart, and Number 13 on the UK Albums Chart. Three singles from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100: "Infrared," "If You Know You Know," and "The Games We Play." Featuring production by Kanye West and Pharrell, his fourth album It's Almost Dry appeared in 2022 and shot straight to the top of the Billboard 200 after selling over 55,000 units.
