Drawing inspiration from the sand, sea, and sunsets, Pete Dash’s sound is a nuanced interplay of serene vocals, roots, and compelling percussion. Debuting in 2018 with “Burning Sun” (drawing inspiration from “O Sifuni Mungu”), the man from Bloemendaal—real name Pieter Smit—has become well recognised for his afrobeat and genre-bending confections. Pete Dash’s debut EP “Arabic Voices,” in 2020, paired a special combination of an infectious afrosoul and nightclub groove. Soaking up the sounds of summer, his follow-up EP in 2021, “In Dreams,” was picked up by Europe’s most coveted DJ booths, though the likes of Hyenah, Pablo Fierro, and JAMIIE. Propelling into the spotlight, he released an exclusive remix of “Mano Mano” in 2023 (by South Africa’s songwriter Thee Suka).
