The Nextmen are a UK production, songwriting and DJ duo comprising Dominic Betmead and Brad Ellis, both born in Cambridge, England, and raised in North London. They first emerged in the mid‑1990s, with their inaugural remix of London Posse’s "Style" in 1996, followed by a series of early singles such as "Slide Up" and "Break the Mould" that established their reputation for blending hip‑hop, drum & bass, dub and pop elements. Their debut studio album, Amongst the Madness (2000), featured collaborations with MCs from the US and UK and was released on Scenario Records; it was succeeded by Get Over It (2003) on the same label, which included tracks with J‑Live and Cutty Ranks. In 2005 they issued the single "Blood Fire" and the compilation Blunted in the Backroom, showcasing their reggae‑influenced sound. The Nextmen’s third album, This Was Supposed to Be the Future (2007), appeared on Antidote Records and contained the single "Let It Roll" featuring Alice Russell. They continued with Join the Dots (2009) on Universal, featuring Dynamite MC and Ms Dynamite, and later collaborated with Gentleman’s Dub Club on Pound for Pound (2018). The duo has performed at major festivals such as Glastonbury and T in the Park, toured extensively across Europe, North America and Asia, and produced high‑profile remixes for artists including Public Enemy, Pharcyde and Plan B.
