German-Tunisian singer Ayman was born in Berlin as Ayman Toukabri in 1974. Although he spent most of his childhood in Germany, he spent several years at a Tunisian boarding school. He began his musical career in 1998 as a backing singer for the band 'Triple M Team' and released his first solo single '1000x' in 1999.
His breakthrough song, however, was 'Mein Stern' in 2000, which reached number four in the German Singles Chart, and was also a top 20 hit in Austria and Switzerland. The single was taken from the album 'Hochexplosiv' which reached number five in the German Albums Chart, number 16 in the Austrian Albums Chart and number 45 in the Swiss Albums Chart. Other singles from the album included 'Nur Eine Nacht' and 'Dieser Brief', both released in 2000 and both reaching the top 20 in the German Singles Chart.
Ayman supported the artist Sean Combs on his tour in 2000, and then had a further top 20 hit in Germany with the single 'Nur Die Wahrheit Zählt' in 2001. His next single, 'Du Bringst Die Liebe Mit', reached number 40 in the German Singles Chart. In 2004, he had a further hit with 'Du Gehörst Du Mir' which was taken from his second album 'Nicht Nur Worte', also released in 2004.
