Ustad G (Mohan Lall) is an Indo-Canadian music producer.
Ustad G's latest work is a collaboration between him and UK singer Joga Singh. Together they created "Tik Tok" a fun electronic dance track about today's relationships in the digital world. "Tik Tok" is Ustad G's third independent single, and fifth commercial release. During a time of social distancing & despite being 4200+ miles apart, Joga's sharp, wide-ranged vocals coupled with Ustad G's signature musical blend of folk and electronic, brings the track to life. Ustad G released his latest mixtape, titled "Folk With Me", in 2020. The 8 track tape took two years to complete and is a showcase of his musical skill, versatility, and technical capabilities. The tape features the likes of folk legends such as Ranjit Kaur, Kuldeep Manak, and Surinder Kaur.
2014 marked his entry with a remix of Kuldeep Manak’s “Tere Tille Ton”. The track debuted on the Indo-Canadian TV show, “Des Pardes”. Focusing on reproducing folk songs allowed him to showcase his production skills as the vocals could be fully isolated. Each mix gained more popularity, particularly “Mundri Meri”, “Addi Raat Tak” and “Billo Teri Hik”. Within two years of his first release, Ustad G had amassed over 5 million streams, worldwide. The success earned him the opportunity to work with Garry Sandhu and Jasmine Sandlas, providing the official remix of their single, “Laddu”. The track was the first of two, to be featured on the BBC Asian Network. In 2018, he collaborated with fellow producer and songwriter, Diesby (pronounced D-S-B). They created an urban Punjabi track, “#Delete”, which aimed to increase the popularity of the genre in the Indian market. It was featured on the Bobby Friction show, on the BBC Asian Network. His unique and meticulous attention to detail is what attracts listeners, providing a new listening experience with each song. Today, Ustad G has reached over 10 million streams, independently. His influences include Beethoven and Mozart, along with soul pioneer, Ray Charles. Other notable influences include Canada's TheWeeknd, Khant Maanpur’s, Babbu Maan, and UK’s Panjabi MC.
