Biography
Initially emerging as a songwriter, Chicago-born Justin Stein, aka Justin Jesso, became an artist in his own right after featuring on 'Stargazing', a collaboration with Kygo, garnering more than 170 million streams worldwide.
Growing up in Glencoe, Chicago, Stein was interested in music from an early age. He moved to New York to study songwriting at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at New York University. After interning at EMI Music Publishing, he pursued a career as a professional songwriter and has since written songs for HRVY, Backstreet Boys and Ricky Martin.
It was through his songwriting that he was given his big break as a musician. After co-writing 'Stargazing' with regular collaborators Stuart Crichton and Jamie Hartman, he featured on the track, which was recorded and released by Kygo. This was a worldwide success and earned a Grammy nomination in 2019 for Best Remixed Recording.
Alongside worldwide support slots with Kygo and Tears for Fears, Stein played a number of headline shows in North America and finally released his debut EP in December 2018 with the title track 'Let It Be Me', featuring Scottish singer Nina Nesbitt.
