Little known as a solo artist, Don Felder, born in Gainesville, Florida, on September 21, 1947, is the principal composer of one of rock and pop's best-known songs. The rising arpeggios of Eagles'"Hotel California" are his. In fact, it was Don Felder, who joined Eagles in 1974, who suggested the song to the band in the form of an instrumental dubbed "Mexican Reggae". Selling millions of copies on vinyl, CD or digital, "Hotel California" is one of the fifty most important songs in rock history, according to Rolling Stone magazine. Fired from Eagles in 2001, Don Felder settled accounts with his former bandmates in the 2006 book Heaven and Hell: My Life in the Eagles (1974 - 2001) .
