Dolcey Julio Gutiérrez De la Cruz was born on October 23, 1941, in El Guamo, Bolívar, Colombia. He is known for his contributions to vallenato, cumbia, sabanera, and tropical music, primarily as an accordionist and singer. His musical training began under Adolfo Pacheco, but it was Aníbal Velásquez who helped shape his distinctive style. Gutiérrez's breakthrough came with the release of "Cantinero sirva el trago" in 1963, from his debut album Parranda en tecnicolor. Throughout his career, he released over 100 works, including 80 LPs and 10 CDs. Notable songs include "La picada comelon a", "Cara de jirafa", and the widely popular "Ron pa' to' el mundo". His music is characterized by its double-entendre lyrics and "picante" rhythm, earning him the title "The Specialist of Spicy Music."
