Ignacio Mastretta Rodríguez, known as Mastretta, was born on May 9, 1964, in Barcelona, Spain, and is a Spanish musician, composer, and record producer. He moved to Santander at a young age and studied piano at the Conservatorio Jesús de Monasterio. His first music project was Las Manos de Orlac, formed in 1987, with whom he recorded two albums: La Furia (1988) and Salud y Pesetas (1990). He moved to Madrid in 1991 and worked as a sound technician at the studio El Sol. His instrumental style gained critical success with the release of "Highballito" under the name Música para un Guateque Sideral in summer 1998, leading to his first album, Melodías de Rayos-X, later that year. In 2000, he released his second album, Luna de Miel, featuring collaborations with various female vocalists. Mastretta composed soundtracks for films such as Asphalt (2000), which was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Original Music.
