Levitation, an English psychedelic rock band formed in London in 1990, initially consisted of frontman Terry Bickers, drummer David Francolini, guitarist Christian Hayes, keyboardist Robert White, bassist Joe Allen, and violinist Johnny T. The band's early releases included the Nadine / Coppelia EP (1991) and the After Ever EP (1991), both of which received positive reviews in Melody Maker. In November 1991, they released a compilation album titled Coterie, which was their first release in the US via Capitol Records. The band's debut album, Need for Not (1992), reached significant milestones including chart success and notable performances at Reading Festival. However, internal issues led to Bickers' departure in May 1993, followed by the band's eventual split in October 1994.
