“Lose Control” OUT NOW!! 🙏🏽🩵
Yiigaa (performance name of Yiga Gao Lou) is a genre-blending singer-songwriter and multi-interdisciplinary artist. Her music takes influence from her Ivorian heritage, alongside her love of dance and soul music. She is a daughter of an Ivorian master drummer and music has been in her house since she was born. Yiigaa pulls together her Ivorian culture, south London roots and identity in her music in a way that inspires and energises the soul.
By seven years old, Yiigaa was writing her own lyrics and absorbing a varied range of musical styles that would go on to influence her own signature brand of pop. This early love of the creative arts was no doubt fostered by the National Youth Theatre, which she joined aged 18. She went on to appear in performances at the Young Vic, the Old Vic Young Company, Woolwich Theatre and Theatre Peckham, amongst others. She also appeared in the Random Acts short film ‘Damage Control (Enough)’, and has directed ‘Waiting For A Train At The Bus Stop’, which debuted in a sold-out slot at Vault Festival.
As a recording artist, Yiigaa has received support from the likes of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, DJ Mag, GRM Daily and Trench Magazine. She’s just played her biggest sold out show to date at The Amazing Grace. In 2023 she released her Light Years EP, which received support from ITV's Love Island, Radio 1 Future Pop and Future Artists, 1Xtra, Reprezent, Foundation FM, and many more.
