‘Rumbaristas’ is the ‘caliente’ name of a bright collective consisting of musicians with Catalan, French and Belgian roots.
They gathered around the Catalan songwriter Willy Fuego (guitar - vocals) and the French-Italian-Polish trumpet/accordion-player Thomas Morzewski. Joined by the Belgians Roel Poriau (percussion) and Thomas De Smet (bass), both members and rhythm-kings of the crazy Belgian worldmusic collective Think of One.
The album thant takes its name from the band itself ‘Rumbaristas’ (Via Lactea, 2019) stands for lively and colourful mix of latin-american flavor, with the passion for balkan music among others. A joyful mix of catalan rumba, spiced up with a hint of ska, folk, reggae, cumbia and even avant-garde.
Produced by David Bourguignon French based in Germany (Radio Bemba - Manu Chao - Fermin Muguruza) and mastered by Yves Roussel (Barcelona) the whole concept behind this pure mestizo collective is the bring together the individuality and unique experience of each one of its members and created a “Fiesta of sounds”.
