Mau Mau is an Italian folk rock and world music ensemble formed in 1990 in Turin. The group was established by Luca Morino, Fabio Barovero, and Tatè Nsongan following the disbandment of the ensemble Loschi Dezi. The band released the EP Soma la macia in 1992, followed by the debut studio recording Sauta rabel (1992). The ensemble performed at the Palestine International Dance and Music Festival and the Babylon International Festival in Iraq. Its discography included the studio recordings Bàss paradis (1994), Viva mamanera (1996), and Eldorado (1998). The group collaborated with the ensemble Africa Unite on the 1994 recording “Ritmo politico”. In 2006, the band released the studio recording Dea, which utilized electronic sounds and Brazilian rhythms. The ensemble released the recording 8 000 km in 2016 and received the Premio Andrea Parodi.
