Originally formed as a four-piece made up of ex-The Stills frontman Tim Fletcher and a trio of Brooklyn producers, Megative has evolved into a true multi-city collective of like-minded musicians dedicated to the fusion of reggae, punk, and old school hip hop.
Having been compared to everything from The Clash to Massive Attack, incorporating retro sounds derived from 70s Jamaican dub to 90s NYC Boom-Bap, their live shows were as explosive as their studio work hypnotic.
Their 2018 self-titled debut was reminiscent of The Specials at their most trippy, or Gorillaz at their most dubby. Thudding melodic baselines, MPC beats, and Fletcher’s unmistakable croon… along with Jamican dancehall legend Screechy Dan’s edgy vocals punctuate every track.
Their follow up EP The Lunatics boasts an unbelievable list of guest vocalists, including Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, Mick Jones, Don Letts, and Glaswegian MC Soom T.
