WHO ARE THEY?
The Pedestrians are a young, multi-genre band based in Cape Town. Celebrating five
years of existence, the band has many accolades that supersede their fresh looks and
unique yet relatable sound. It was exactly this factor that paved the way for them and
separated them from the other participants when they not only won the band category
but came out as overall winners Suidoosterfees. The band also gave birth to seven
original tracks when they staged their own production called Viva D6 Queens, which was
written and directed by Quanita Adams in 2016.
The Band performed at multiple places and it opened numerous doors for them. One of
these doors included having played at The Joy of Jazz International Festival held in
Johannesburg in 2015. They preceded to play at multiple corporate events together with
the Jazz on the Rocks in Tietiesbaai and several other festivals in and around Cape
Town. The Cape Town International Jazz Festival was one of them.
THE MUSIC
The Pedestrians woo’d their way through the hearts of many fans when they collaborated
with the “Smother’’ hitmaker, Craig Lucas, The Voice South Africa season 2 winner in
2018. The Band released their debut single in 2018 called “So much Fun’’. This single
caught the attention of the international husband and wife, Kenny Thomas and Fransisca
Blasich who are doing a duet cover version of the song.
They believe in their music, which serves as the reason for their likeability. The Band
encourages and unwaveringly supports local music and education. They epitomise the
saying of “charity begins at home’’.
This is evident by virtue of their recent involvement in assisting Craig Lucas with a
Fundraiser. Funds were being raised for Euwin Stevens, who received an opportunity to
play soccer in America but could not afford it due to financial constraints. In addition to
this, they have also partnered up with U-Turn as brand ambassadors. U-Turn is an
organisation that endeavours to eradicate homelessness through sustainable ways by
equipping people with skills and work opportunities to triumph social-economic issues –

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 hit everyone, including the band members and their
manager extremely hard. It came as a huge shock to the band when they lost their
manager Fazeelah Ibrahim to COVID-19. She was more than just a manager to them she
was their second mother and she is missed dearly.
Against all odds and everything that came with the pandemic, the band was able to use
their savings and go into studio and start working on their debut album.
The band worked with some of South Africa’s best producers, namely; Ameen Harron, DJ
Cosher, He-Produced It and Evan Raffels. From the full-length album, four singles have
already been released to the public with great reception nonetheless. Those singles are; So
Much Fun, Not Hopeless, Honest and last but not least, As Much As I Do.
The Pedestrians Debut Album releases on the 29th October 2021 and they can’t wait to share it with everyone.
