Mohamed Mazouni, born on May 4, 1940 in Blida, Algeria, is an Algerian singer, songwriter, and producer. He began his career in 1958 with nationalist songs during the French occupation of Algeria. In 1969, Mazouni emigrated to France, addressing themes of love, exile, racism, and the struggles of immigrant workers. Notable songs from this period include "L'Amour Arabe" (1970) and "Chérie Madame" (1981). He returned to Algeria in 1982 and disappeared from the music scene for a decade. In the 2000s, musical groups like Zebda, the National Orchestra of Barbès, and the singer Rachid Taha covered his songs and brought him back into the spotlight.
