Brimming with bubblegum angst, San Diego, California-based singer/songwriter Cheyenne Benton breathes lyrical fire into the world of atmospheric indie pop.
With sincere and defiant lyrics, Benton creates an infectious sonic wonderland that balances retro nostalgia with audaciously futuristic instrumentation. Her explosive melodies and transparent storytelling are heavily influenced by her early years performing in musical theater. Drawing inspiration from a plethora of powerhouse matriarchs spanning multiple genres, Benton’s sonic and lyrical capabilities have been compared to the likes of Paramore's Hayley Williams, Lana Del Rey, Phoebe Bridgers, Charli XCX, Amy Winehouse, Marina & the Diamonds, and Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.
Her highly anticipated self-produced debut album “Beautiful Chaos” was released in March of 2023, garnering critical acclaim from her rapidly growing fanbase as well as the attention of local music industry veterans. Since Beautiful Chaos was released, Benton has been playing steadily throughout Southern California including The Casbah, Hotel Cafe, Soda Bar and several music festivals.
In 2024, the momentum continues to accelerate as Benton's music was featured on 91X and she received two San Diego Music Award nominations including Best Pop Album for "Beautiful Chaos" and Best Video for her song "Batting Cages," which has over 20K views on YouTube. And, riding that way, Benton will release a highly anticipated new album later in the year.
