Steel Alive was born in 2014 in Lyon and has since moved between mainland France and Reunion Island.
The duo is formed by Pouss, who composes and produces, as well as playing the accordion and synthesizer; and Lucas, who plays the guitar and drumpad.
Their musical universe is made up of a dub base enriched with hip-hop beats, elements of world music and scratches, creating an explosive mix of reggae and stepper enhanced by an organic touch and accompanied by their signature element: the accordion.
Between their homage to sound system culture and their nods to circus arts, they have collaborated with numerous and diverse artists (Panda Dub, Uzul, Luiza, Joe Pilgrim, Balaphonik Sound System...). They have hundreds of concerts under their belt, mainly in France, Reunion and Switzerland, and have released two CDs, Spread the Word (2014) and Timing is Critical (2017), as well as the album Connecting... Please Wait (Casamance, 2022).
In 2024 they created their own label, Bass Cookers, under which they publish their productions, recorded and mixed by one of the pioneers of French Dub: Pilah (Dub Addict Sound System/Kaly Live Dub). They also celebrate their tenth anniversary by organizing two Alive Dub Festivals, in France in October and in Reunion in November.
