The American hip-hop artist Trippie Redd was born was "Michael Lamar White IV" in Canton, Ohio, on June 18, 1999. He began rapping as a teenager and turned professional after moving to Atlanta, where he immersed himself in the city's influential hip-hop movement. His 2017 debut mixtape A Love Letter to You went to Number 32 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. A Love Letter to You 2 later reached Number 19 and his first full album, 2018’s Life's a Trip peaked at Number 4. 2018's A Love Letter to You 3 topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Album Chart, and 2019’s ! got to Number 3 on the main album chart. That same year, A Love Letter to You 4 topped both the Hip-Hop and the main album charts. Pegasus reached Number 2, and 2021’s Trip at Knight reached the same position in 2021. 2021 also found him releasing “Miss the Rage,” a collaboration with Playboi Carti that hit Number 6 on the R&B chart as well as Number 11 on the pop chart, a career best placement on both. Later that year, “Holy Smokes” became his 12th top 40 R&B single. That momentum helped push Trip at Knight to gold status, and Trippie Redd returned to the charts in 2023 with his fifth album, Mansion Musik, which debuted at Number 3 on the Billboard 200.
