Raudra is a French Black Metal one-man band project created in 2013 and based in Saint-Raphaël (Var). Influenced by groups such as Black Sabbath, Bathory, Dissection, Burzum, Darkthrone, Sarke, Absurd, Rotting Christ, the NWOBHM or even Paris Violence, its name is inspired by the rasa "Raudra" of the Indian aesthetic tradition used to signify sentiment of fury — fury understood there as the primordial drive for expansion inherent in all form of life and situated beyond good and evil — thus understood as "will to power".
The first album, “Nondualist Metal of Death”, was released on December 24, 2020 on Bandcamp and then on January 8, 2021 on streaming platforms. The texts explore the creative and destiny power of being-toward-death (Sein zum Tode) as much as the dark — and very often obscured — side of Awakening. Influenced as much by the thought of Nietzsche, Heidegger, Abhinavagupta — and the school of nondualist Kashmir Shaivism — as by the tragic spirit of ancient Greece and ancient Europeans in general, they want to be and must be heard like an "Ode to Death".
