Raghupathi Dwarakanath Dixit, known professionally as Raghu Dixit, was born on November 11, 1974, in Mysore, India. He is an Indian singer-songwriter and the frontman of the multilingual folk music band, the Raghu Dixit Project. Dixit initially pursued a career in microbiology but later transitioned into music. His self-titled debut album was released on September 20, 2010, by Vishal & Shekhar Music and Wrasse Records, reaching Number 1 on the iTunes World Music charts in the UK. Dixit has composed music for various films, including Psycho (2008) and made his Bollywood debut with the film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge in 2011. He has performed at numerous festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury Festival. Dixit's work has earned him several awards, such as the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2019.
