Norman Mervyn Barrington-Foote, born in 1954 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a musician, songwriter, and comedian. He received his first guitar at age 11 and began performing with garage bands during high school. At 20, Foote traveled to Australia and New Zealand, discovering puppetry and slapstick comedy while performing with a traveling theatre group. His breakthrough came when he signed with Walt Disney Records' Music Box Artist Series, releasing his debut albums Foote Prints (1991) and If the Shoe Fits (1992). Foote collaborated with Fred Penner on Shake a Leg (1995), followed by Pictures on the Fridge (1997). Notable albums include 1000 Pennies (2001) and Love My New Shirt (2008), which won the Juno Award for Best Children's Album in 2010. He has performed with various symphonies, including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
