Futures End, an American progressive metal band, was formed in California in 2007 by guitarists Christian Wentz and Marc Pattison. After completing their initial demos, Fred Marshall, formerly of Zero Hour, joined as the vocalist. Bassist Steve Di Giorgio and drummer Jon Allen completed the lineup. Their debut album, Memoirs of a Broken Man, was released in 2009 under Nightmare Records and received critical acclaim within the heavy metal community. That same year, the album was voted 'Best Progressive Metal Album of 2009' in USA Progressive Music Magazine's annual poll, beating out notable bands such as Redemption, Shadow Gallery, Edgend, and Dream Theater.
