'His songs are gritty and real and come at you like a hammer, ringin' in the mornin'. (Shane Howard)
‘Bill Jackson is coming from the grass roots, from the ground up, from the struggle of the 99% - his songs are gritty and real and come at you like a hammer, ringin' in the mornin'. Take it or leave it, he's telling it straight up’. (Shane Howard)
Jackson has firmly established himself over the past few years as one of Australia’s finest Singer/Songwriters. He has released eight solo albums and toured North America four times.
'Steel & Bone' was awarded Folk Alliance Australia 'Radio Presenters Album of the Year' in 2008 and his 2011 album ‘Jerilderie’ was enthusiastically received in the marketplace, so much so that the song ‘Something in Blue’ was covered by legendary Americana artist David Olney. ‘The Wayside Ballads Vol 2’ was nominated for a Music Victoria Award in 2016 whilst his 2021 album, ‘The Wayside Ballads Vol 3’, produced by Kerryn Tolhurst was awarded ‘Contemporary Album of the Year’ at The Australian Folk Music Awards. He has just released a new album ‘1965’, again produced by Kerryn Tolhurst.
