Tales from Brooklyn vol.1 is out!
Born in Curitiba – Brazil, Eduardo Mercuri had his first contact with music very early, and at age 11 began playing the guitar. In 2009 he received his bachelor's degree in music education from Faculdades de Artes do Paraná. During his time at FAP Mercuri got exposed to all kinds of music, especially Brazilian genres and started playing mandolin, 10-string guitar and cavaquinho in addition to the electric and acoustic guitars. At that time he was really involved in the music scene in South Brazil performing in a variety of genres, from traditional Macedonian music to Gypsy Jazz.
In 2011 he released 2 albums, “O timbre da mão” and “Jazz Cigano Quinteto” which had great reviews in specialized press. Also in 2011 he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston - MA. In 2014 Eduardo graduated Summa Cum Laude in Guitar Performance and in 2016 he once more graduated Summa Cum Laude, holding a Master Degree in Contemporary Performance from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute.
In 2018 he released his third solo album, Eduardo Mercuri Trio - Prelude to a Kiss receiving excellent reviews from the press in Brazil, US, Colombia and Italy. Today Mercuri is based in Brooklyn, fast becoming a very sought after sideman in the busy NYC scene.
Eduardo leads the Eduardo Mercuri Quintet, the Eduardo Mercuri Trio and recently formed a Duo with Japanese percussionist Kan Yanabe. He has performed at the 2013 Latin Grammys award in Las Vegas, Panama Jazz Festival, Rise Up as one Festival and has performed in some of the most prestigious concert venues in the east coast such as the Carnegie Hall, Clinton Foundation – Future of the Americas, NYC Blue Note, The ONU headquarters in NYC, Mechanics Hall, the B.B. King Club, Boston Symphony Hall, Berklee Performance Center, Howard Theater in Washington DC, Café 939. Apart from his works as a leader Eduardo worked with world-class artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Paquito D’Rivera, Luis Enrique, Joyce Moreno, Gabriele Mirabassi, Dave Douglas, Susana Baca, George Garzone, Antonio Adolfo, Jovino Santos, Jerry Bergonzi, Dudu Nobre, among others.
