Armageddon is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Halmstad, Sweden, formed in 1997 by Christopher Amott of Arch Enemy. The project began when Amott secured a solo record deal in Japan with Toy's Factory while on tour with his primary band. Recruiting Peter Wildoer, Martin Bengtsson, and Jonas Nyrén, the group released its debut album, Crossing the Rubicon (1997), on W.A.R. Records and Toy's Factory. The band's sound evolved through several lineup changes, incorporating elements of power and progressive metal. Following a hiatus where members Wildoer and Bengtsson joined Arch Enemy, the project resurfaced with the albums Embrace the Mystery (2000) and Three (2002), both of which were initially released only in Japan. Amott reformed Armageddon in 2012 with a new lineup including Antony Hämäläinen, leading to the studio album Captivity & Devourment (2015). The group also released a re-recorded version of its debut entitled Crossing the Rubicon (Revisited) (2016). In 2019, as Amott was unable to commit further time, former members formed the spiritual successor band Daughter Chaos.
