British R&B singer born in Southampton on May 5, 1981, Craig David established himself as one of the genre's leading artists from his first single, "Fill Me In", released in 2000. The album Born to Do It, released shortly afterwards, joins him at the top of the UK record sales charts. The former pirate radio DJ then moved to the U.S., recording successively for the Atlantic label (via Wildstar) and major Warner Bros.: Slicker Than Your Average (2002), featuring a duet with Sting, was followed by The Story Goes... (2005) and Trust Me (2007), with less success. The singer then went back to the soul memories of his teenage years with the covers album Signed, Sealed, Delivered (2010), for the Universal Motown label. He followed this up with a few random UK garage and house singles before disappearing from the studio to return to the turntables. Now a DJ again, he hosts a weekly show on Capital Xtra. Nine years after his last album, Following My Intuition (2016) was released, and went straight to the top of the charts in 2016. 2018 saw the release of The Time Is Now, featuring collaborations with the group Bastille and producers Blonde and Kaytranada, who were already present on the previous album. His eighth album 22, released four years later, reached No. 7 and included collaborations with Galantis, MNEK, Gracey, Duvall, Wretch 32 and Muni Long, as well as Kyle and Carmen Reece in the deluxe edition. The same year sees the release of his autobiography What's Your Vibe? before the 20th-anniversary reissue of Slicker Than Your Average. New singles appear, including "In Your Hands" in 2024, inspired by the spiritual "He's Got the Whold World in His Hands", then "SOS", "Commitment" with Tiwa Savage and "Commitment Pt. 2" with the former and the French Merveille, then "Wake Up", taken from the Commitment album (2025), also featuring contributions from Louis Johnson and JoJo.
