Larry Lee Stephenson is an American bluegrass songwriter and mandolinist born on October 24, 1956, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He began performing as a child and recorded his first single at age thirteen. In 1976, he released the recording Best of Bluegrass as a member of Larry Stephenson & the New Grass. He performed with Bill Harrell and the Virginians and the Bluegrass Cardinals before establishing the Larry Stephenson Band in 1989. His discography included the studio recordings Everytime I Sing a Love Song (1988), Timber (1990), and Clinch Mountain Mystery (2004). In 2003, he performed with David Parmley and Missy Raines in the ensemble White House. Stephenson received multiple awards from the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America, including Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Clinch Mountain Mystery”. His later recordings included Pull Your Savior In (2014) and Weep Little Willow (2017). He was inducted into the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996.
